Before every hunt
- Check weather, daylight, park hours, road conditions, accessibility, and local rules.
- Tell another person where you are going, bring a charged phone, and stay together.
- Use only public places or locations where you have clear permission.
- Wear suitable shoes and protective clothing, and carry water.
- Remember that a shaded map area is approximate and is never permission to enter property.
Never hide or search in
Roadways, parking-lot traffic lanes, railroads, construction zones, drains, culverts, utility areas, water, steep terrain, roofs, abandoned structures, schools, private yards, medical facilities, emergency facilities, or anywhere marked restricted. Do not climb, dig, move heavy objects, disturb wildlife, or reach into a space you cannot clearly see.
Choose appropriate treasures
Use clean, lawful, family-appropriate objects that cannot be mistaken for a weapon, hazardous package, drug, food, medication, or emergency device. Do not use glass, sharp objects, batteries that can leak, perishables, choking hazards, or anything valuable enough to encourage risky behavior. Package items for ordinary weather without creating litter.
Protect privacy
Photos and clues should not show faces without permission, children’s identifying details, house numbers, license plates, school names, access codes, or private routines. Use a public username rather than a legal name. Private-hunt codes should be shared only with people you trust.
If something is wrong
- Leave immediately if a location feels unsafe, restricted, or suspicious.
- Do not touch an unknown, dangerous, or inappropriate object.
- Use the in-app report feature for unsafe hides, inappropriate content, false finds, harassment, or missing treasures.
- For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In-app reports are not monitored as an emergency service.
For hiders
Recheck your active hides. Respond promptly when an item is reported missing and remove abandoned materials. Approve or reject find submissions honestly. If you make a mistake, use the app’s delete-hide option rather than leaving an invalid listing.
For finders
Stay inside permitted areas, follow the clue without forcing or damaging anything, and submit an honest verification photo. If you rehide an item, choose another safe and permitted location. Respect the hider’s decision when verifying a find.
